Psychosexual Therapy

Sometimes sexual problems and relationship difficulties are connected, and it is not uncommon for couples to be unhappy with their sexual relationship.

By working together, it is possible to understand why these problems have emerged and work towards resolving them. I have worked with clients with a wide range of sexual issues.

Do you belong to a professional body?

Yes.  I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT).

Both organisations require evidence of qualifications and good professional standards and I am bound by their codes of conduct. Both organisations also provide complaints procedures should this be required.

Fees, cancellation policy and payment methods

Fees

I offer a no obligation initial assessment session for £40

Individuals - £50 per 50 minute session

Couples - £65 per 50 minute session

I offer two concessionary appointments per week at a reduced rate to those on a low income.

What is your cancellation policy?

In general I have a 48 hour rule for cancellations.  For appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice I will always do my best to reschedule.  However that time is booked out for you and I am unable to take on other work at that time and therefore reserve the right to charge 50% of the fee payable.

If you miss or cancel your session within 24 hours of your appointment you will be charged the full cost of the appointment.

How can I pay?

You can pay be card or cash.

Do you issue receipts?

I provide receipts for all payments made.

When do I pay?

If you pay by card or cash you pay for the session at the end of that session.

How long does psychosexual therapy last?

Psychosexual therapy typically lasts 12-20 sessions.

The actual number depends on the issues you are exploring and how you choose to work.

How long is a session?

Sessions last 50 minutes.

How frequent will the sessions be?

Usually I meet clients on a weekly basis, but I understand that this is not always convenient, and make every effort to be flexible where possible.

Will the sessions be confidential?

Yes everything is confidential in the counselling room unless I feel that someone is at risk of hurting themselves or someone else.  My counselling room is completely private and I follow the guidance of my professional bodies in the way I take and store notes.

There is always a gap between sessions so it is highly unlikely that clients would meet each other.

How effective is Psychosexual therapy?

Research evidence shows psychosexual therapy does work.  If you complete the therapy then it is highly likely that you will solve your sexual problem.

{slider Will I have to do sexual things in front of the therapist?}

No

{slider Will I need to put time aside outside the sessions?}

Sex therapy involves committing at least two hours a week outside the sessions.

You will be asked to undertake tasks between counselling sessions.
