Relationship Counselling
I offer specialist therapy for both couples and individuals with relationship issues, helping you through challenging times. There are many things that can cause relationship problems, some related to different life stages and many arising from the pressures of daily life. I provide a secure, non-judgmental approach, offering both short and long-term counselling, using a range of approaches appropriate to each individual situation. I never take sides.
Counselling offers the opportunity to explore your relationship and think about what you might want to change. It is not about returning to the early days of your relationship, but about what is right for the present and the future. A relationship MOT can be helpful!
Frequently sexual problems and relationship difficulties are connected and it's not uncommon for couples to be unhappy with their sexual relationship. I can draw upon my experience as a sex therapist to begin to understand issues around intimacy and can offer counselling with a sexual focus.
Sometimes, despite trying to rebuild a relationship, couples decide to part. Couples sessions can offer the opportunity to reflect on this and move on.
The end of a relationship is never easy and a breakdown can be both painful and confusing. If your relationship has ended and you are struggling to deal with the fall-out, I can offer support throughout this time enabling you to reflect and make positive choices.
Do I need to come for counselling with my partner?
You are welcome to come for counselling alone or with your partner. Sometimes people want to discuss their options or explore their relationship alone, or maybe their partner does not wish to attend.
Whether you are single, married, separated, divorced, living together or in a same-sex relationship – if you are over 18 and looking to work on relationship issues then I may be able to help.
Are you a qualified and experienced counsellor and therapist?
Yes. I am an Accredited member of the BACP. I have a certificate in couple counselling, a postgraduate certificate in psychosexual therapy and a certificate in sex addiction counselling in addition to 17 years' counselling experience.
